Weekend Update

April 13, 2015
Hello monday. After a weekend filled with hours logged in the sun, tons of cold-pressed juice, quality time with friends and lots of relaxation, I feel refreshed and ready for the week ahead.

Friday was the home opener for the colorado rockies which is pretty much a state-wide holiday. The city was buzzing and the weather was gorgeous, making my company's home opening party a major success.

Saturday morning ryan and I got some stuff done around the house while rocco 'supervised' from the patio. Our pup could not be happier that the weather was in the 70s so he could sunbathe for hours on the outdoor furniture. We met up with matt + lindy and their adorable sons in the afternoon at the pioneer for some patio drinks and snacks before we headed out to celebrate our friend nicki's birthday. The evening bbq followed by cards against humanity turned into a spout of endless laughing and story telling.

Sunday was a bit more low-key for me. I finally got some artwork up in our bedroom. I am framing some of the cards ryan and I have exchange over the years into a gallery wall but need to get a couple more frames. Ryan and I lounged around before trying out this new gnocchi recipe (fyi... it was amazing and I will be making it again very soon).

Oh... and the best part of sunday, game of thrones and silicon valley premiered! Could the weekend have ended more perfectly... I think not.

This Weekend You Could...

April 10, 2015

spring baseball is finally here. the rockies home opening weekend is upon us, so grab your purple an cheer on your home team while they still have a decent record and the heat is at bay.

april is earth month and there is no better way to support a great cause while filling your belly than with a multi-course meal prepared by some of the top chefs in denver. dine out for earth is being held at linger and benefits will help rock the earth.

the best way to work up a meal is with a bit of activity. join brunch running for a weekly 5k that is then followed up by a decadent brunch at some of the hottest spots in the city.

friday night bazaar in brighton might become your new home away from home. with local talent performing each friday along with food, drinks, crafts an activities, there is something for everyone to start your weekends off on the right foot.

want to sip your way through over 300 wines from around the world while supporting the denver art museum? The DAM uncorked is an awesome mix of art, food and drinks which is a blast to attend.

Weekend Update

April 7, 2014
Welcome back from your weekend. I am seriously wishing it was still saturday and I was lounging around my house in my pjs. Instead, I am delving into my day and quickly realizing that the week ahead is going to be a busy one. But before I can even wrap my brain around the days to come, let's take a quick peak at the weekend that was.

Friday was opening day for the colorado rockies which meant chaos in the streets of lower downtown. It turned out to be a great day and the rockies won to boot! That evening we went to st. ellie for drinks and some high-end bar grub, including a super-tasty chuck burger, that paired perfectly with the company at the table.

Saturday morning kicked off with rocco getting a much needed groom, a trip to the gym and a pit-stop into home depot to get supplies for a couple of upcoming projects. After some work around the house, ryan and I had a late lunch at park burger (jeesh... 2 burgers, 2 days in a row! I must be craving iron) and a surprise chocolate milkshake for the road. It was such a relaxing day followed by dinner at home and some dvr watching.

Sunday morning ryan completed one of the bigger house projects on our list, installing a new side door to our garage. Ryan had the help of his grandpa to install the door and after a couple hours of manual work, our garage is looking 100% better than before. Oh, and game of thrones started last night after months of anticipation. We had our friend brian over for dinner + some wine to watch the season premiere. #ilovegameofthrones

Wow, what a busy weekend. How about you, what did you do?

Quote of the Day

This quote is the perfect mantra for my day and to kick off the weekend ahead. Today is the colorado rockies home opener which is like denver's way of saying spring is in full gear. My office throws a kick-ass party as part of the fun and guess what... I am the host. Follow that by drinks with ryan, my sister + a new friend of hers tonight at st. ellie and I am thinking life is looking pretty good.

Here's to a great weekend to all of you... go out and live it up and enjoy all that comes your way.

Weekend Update

May 20, 2013
I feel like this weekend was a bit of a blur because we seriously did not have a moment of down time.  From a great night out with our amazing friends for a friday night rockies game, to helping my sister move into her kick-ass new apartment in lower-highlands, to a huge family dinner on sunday evening, I think I spent less than 10 waking hours in my house.

I cannot decide if this is a bad or good thing, but being out of the house a bunch lent to a lot of alcohol consumption.  Beers at the baseball game.  Celebratory cocktails in gina's honor all over lower highlands.  A couple bottles of beer with family at maggiano's.  I think I am going to stay off the sauce for the week so my life can get back into some version of normalcy.

Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead.  Hope to see you back here on my blog later this week!

Vacation Wrap Up // Scottsdale

March 20, 2013
I am back from a sunny, relaxing, sports-filled and warm vacation.  As I slowly get back into a normal day-to-day schedule, I am sorting through pictures, doing lots of laundry and getting back into the blogosphere world that I love.  Here are a few pictures from the first portion of our trip which was to scottsdale, az.  We spent a couple days here and caught a rockies pre-season baseball game, ate great sushi at the w hotel's, roku and also did a little bar hoping through the streets of downtown.

Weekend Update

May 1, 2012
What a beautiful weekend here in Denver and how blessed I was to spend it with so many people who I am grateful to have in my life.  The simple joys of watching a good ‘ol baseball game, making breakfast in my pajamas to get my Saturday off to a great start, surprising Rocco with a new toy that he has become utterly obsessed with, seeing my sister-in-law show me her great driving skills (she parallel parked and backed into a parking spot!), a fun and relaxing afternoon BBQ to kick-off the Nuggets playoffs (too bad they lost Game 1) and then having some of the most wonderful time with Ryan’s grandparents and family.

I could not be more fortunate to have so many wonderful experiences and people whom I get to share my life with.  It is the moments when I can take a step back and see all the laughter, sincerity, love, honesty, passion and ease in those around me that I get taken aback by all that is in this beautiful world.
Wishing everyone an amazing week to come!

Weekend Update // Scottsdale

March 13, 2012
OMG was Scottsdale the exact thing we needed to rejuvenate our bodies, relax our minds and restore our sanity.  Right when we stepped through the doors into our hotel lobby, I felt like I was transported into the kitschy-cool 1950’s.  Who knew that this is one of the prime hotels to stay in for sophisticated laid-back style and fun?!?!
We got in a lot of walking as our hotel was right in the middle of Downtown Scottsdale.  We logged endless hours at the pool and I can proudly say my spring clothes will look a lot better now that I have some color.  Ryan and I were up with the sun (well maybe not exactly) and worked out overlooking amazing views.  We got some retail therapy in which I was super enthused about.  We took in 2 Spring Training games and drank a few cocktails throughout the entire weekend.

I guess if Scottsdale had one downfall it would be the dining scene.  Not that we had ‘bad’ food but maybe nothing that was super impressive or memorable.  Maybe Scottsdale is not a dining mecca?!?!  Oh, and that breakfast joint that I was hoping to visit from Diners, Drive Ins and Dives… well it was over 10 miles away and we did not have a rental car so maybe that will make it into our next trip to AZ.
The pictures sum it up way better than any words I could write but if anyone is looking to recharge their battery, I would say The Valley Ho is the place to do it and Scottsdale was the gateway to our revitalization!
