Weekend Update

January 12, 2015
Man oh man... the broncos hunt for super bowl glory came to an end this weekend. It was quite the season but after our bitter loss to the colts last night, us fans are just left with sour tastes in our mouths.

The weekend was not a total loss though. Highlights included a super fun night out with our wonderful friends matt + lindy at cherry creek grill, a special send-off meal for peyton as she heads back to college, quality time with my amazing parents and rocco getting the cutest groom.

I hope you all had a nice weekend. Back to the grind today so pour yourself an extra cup of coffee and keep your chin up.

Weekend Update

November 10, 2014
Welcome back from your weekend. I am still adjusting to the reality that it is actually november. Maybe because the weather is so unseasonably warm and there are still leaves on so many of the trees. I cannot complain about the weather though, the sunshine and temperatures were the perfect addition to my weekend.

I spent my friday evening at my friend becca's house. She hosted a bunch of girls in her beautiful home for drinks and snacks. Saturday was then spent shopping and running errands. My mother-in-law found an awesome new drum chandelier at west elm for her dining room which got me excited about finding great fixtures for our new home. We decided to stay in on saturday night and cook a recipe out of my new 5280 cookbook, pappardelle bolognese. It turned out fabulously and was the perfect warm dish to enjoy with a couple glasses of wine on a cool evening.

Sunday we watched my niece kamryn for the day so there was a lot of snuggle time with her along with coloring pictures and painting nails. We also got to see the broncos beat the raiders so the evening ended on a high-note.

Snow is on the forecast all week so I think our indian summer is wrapping up. I am going to need to dig out my sweaters, boots and scarves to stay warm!

Weekend Update

November 3, 2014
October is officially over. Halloween has come and went. The festivities of fall are drawing to a close as colder temperatures start settling in. Oh but what a glorious month it was! October finished on a high note; halloween festivities, some very good news for ryan + I (more on that this week!) and quality time with our family.

I stayed in my gretchen wieners costume for phil + sara's halloween party on friday. Ryan went as a pirate and the night was spent playing card games and having tons of fun with our friends. Saturday we went to lunch at cherry creek grill with my parents and it was just perfect; wonderful food, great company and endless conversation. The friendship I have developed with my parents as an adult is something I value so much and it makes the time we spend together that much more meaningful to me.

Sunday we  met up with ryan's brother luke at view house for sunday football. Unfortunately we watched the broncos lose to the patriots which was not the outcome we were hoping for. Nonetheless, we had a blast eating bar food, drinking beers and hanging out together.

Weekend Update

October 20, 2014
Happy monday! The weekend was gorgeous and filled with fun from friday to sunday. We had dinner with friends at work and class, celebrated my sister's recent engagement + new home, plus spent some quality time with ryan's sister who was home from college for the weekend.

I am so grateful for friends + family, they are the most important priority in my life. This weekend included a lot of time with them too... from snuggling lindy + matt's handsome son wade, to yatzee games late on saturday evening, scary movies to get me even more excited about halloween and then of course, meeting my sister's soon-to-be extended family.

Oh and I must mention, the broncos kicked the pants of the 49ers last night AND peyton manning made nfl history by throwing the most touchdowns of all time, 509! It was such a fun game to watch and I was a bit envious of my brother-in-law luke who got to attend the game. #pfm

Weekend Update

October 6, 2014
Happy monday lovely readers. I am in such a wonderful mood this morning and I am 100% accrediting it to my weekend. Rocco, friends, family and sunshine... a perfect combination in my world.

The weekend started out on a slight damper because I decided to get rocco's teeth cleaned and in the process the vet found out he had a rotted molar and it needed to be pulled. I had no idea but this infected and rotting tooth was leaving him in pain and I had no idea. My poor baby! Rocco is doing fine now but I spent a lot of my weekend snuggling with him as he recovered.

Sunday was the highlight of the weekend because my bestie beth was in town. We had breakfast with sara and ashley at jelly and it was honestly one of the best mornings I have had this year. I met these 3 amazing women at work over 7 years ago and they have remained my closest friends still to this day. They are my lifelines and the couple of hours we spent together over a table filled with food + drinks was invaluable to my soul.

The festivities continued at the tailgate party I host (for work) before the broncos beat the cardinals. The sun was out, beth and her boyfriend hunter were in attendance, as well as ryan and his grandpa who went to the game together. I watched the game at my parents' house after the tailgate ended and we stuffed ourselves with delicious burritos made by my dad. Oh and homeland season 4 started last night... icing on the perfect weekend cake!

Weekend Update

September 22, 2014
What a weekend... I found out some very exciting news, spent quality time with my in-laws and also got together with mary for some girlie fun. Where do I start...

Saturday morning started with a bit of a shocking phone call... my sister called to tell me she just got engaged! I was speechless when she told me because it was not something I saw coming just-yet but I could not be happier for her and the life she is venturing into. The happiness that you can see + hear in her voice is just amazing. The remainder of my day included a trip to a local antique store (where I scored this incredible old trunk that will be a perfect coffee table in a house I might someday find) and then dinner on a twinkling covered patio with my in-laws at the melting pot. It truly was a wonderful day from beginning to end.

Sunday was my mani + coffee date with mary. We spent the entire morning catching up on each other lives . Mary might be the sweetest and most optimistic person I know which makes for a great soundboard and breath-of-fresh-air when your head is full of spastic thoughts. I didn't want to leave... just have our time linger into an afternoon of cocktails but I had made plans with my parents to watch the broncos game (ugh, we lost!) and eat dinner together. The night ended with big bowls of my parents' homemade chicken noodle soup and the rain falling.

Weekend Update

September 15, 2014
Hi there! Welcome back from your weekend. Denver was unseasonable cool all week and then what do you know... the 80-degree temps came out, along with the sun, to make for a very enjoyable weekend. I spent as much time in the sun as I could, soaking in the last of the warm summer weather before it is gone for good.

Friday started off on a high note, coffee from corvus on my way into the office followed by a great gym session post-work. I just got these new tennis shoes and I think they might be the main (only) reason I am excited about going to the gym as of late. At least something is getting my butt in gear.

Saturday was gorgeous and I could not have been happier that ryan's mom planned for us to all go to the summerset festival together... tasty food, day drinking and a car show, all in the beautiful weather. Sunday I tailgated with ryan before heading into the broncos vs chiefs game. It was hot, I was tired and the broncos defense was questionable-at-best but the broncos came out with a win in the end. We wrapped up the night by eating dinner on the patio and then watching a couple episodes of mad men... our newest tv show that we have began watching on netflix.

Hopefully you had a nice weekend too. If you have any great suggestions for next weekend, I would love to hear so I could include them in my 'this weekend you could....' series!

Weekend Update

September 8, 2014
This weekend was a vacation for my soul; a mental and physical breath-of-fresh-air and a chance to recharge my batteries in a beautiful setting with someone who knows me almost better than I know myself. I spent the weekend in steamboat, otherwise known as beth's #dreamboat. I got to spend 2 full days with my best friend, seeing her home town from a totally different perspective than I had ever experienced steamboat before.

I will share more about my trip later this week but seriously, a weekend with your best friend is priceless in my mind. The conversations, the shared tears, the understanding and appreciation for each others' situations and just being together was so so so needed for me.

On sunday I headed back to denver just in time for some tailgating fun for the broncos home opener against the colts. I watched the game with my family and got to celebrate a broncos win too. A perfect sunday night to wrap up a stellar weekend.

Hut, Hut... Hike

September 7, 2014
Tonight kicks off the regular season for my home team, the denver broncos. The streets will be flooded in orange, navy and white as we cheer on our boys who will be taking on the colts for #sundaynightfootball. I am of course pumped for another season of tailgating, followed by watching all the games with family + friends. And, to look the part, here is a roundup of my favorite broncos gear for the season.

(clockwise from top left:  tee  /  nail lacquer  /  scarf (no longer available)  /  hair ties  /  jacket  /  convertible mittens  /  sunglasses  /  beanie  /  boots)

Also, if you have not checked out her fantasy football, you are missing out. It's an awesome weekly pod-cast hosted by some of the most well-versed and football-crazed fans I know, who just happen to be women. These ladies sure do know their shit when it comes to draft picks for fantasy football, weekly stats, teams, players, coaches... I could go on. Her fantasy football was just picked up by espnw (yep, as in ESPN!!!) so if you call yourself a football fan, you better check them out.

Let's go broncos!

This Weekend You Could...

September 5, 2014

jump on your bike and join the fun of tour de fat with new belgium brewery in city park

cheer on the broncos as they take on the colts for their home opener at sports authority field

mosey through art galleries and sip wine on first fridays artwalk

hit up an art museum, all are free the 1st saturday of the month, dmns, history colorado, denver art museum and more

Or, you could be super cool like me and head for the hills. More specifically, I'm off to visit beth in steamboat for a weekend of eating, drinking, laughing, most-likely some crying and a perfect weekend away with my most favorite friend. Make sure you follow me on instagram, I will posting lots of pics.

Weekend Update

February 3, 2014
Wow... yesterday was not exactly the ending I was hoping for after all the excitement this past season brought to loyal broncos fans. If you happened to miss it, the broncos got smoked in the super bowl and made for a painful ending to what would have been a very nice weekend. Shoot. At least bruno mars and the red hot chili peppers killed it during the halftime show.

Luckily the rest of the weekend was a whole lot better than the super bowl. We had a wonderful evening at our friends' matt + lindy's house on friday; so grateful for their friendship and being able to live so close to such wonderful people. Saturday was pretty low key due to some seriously cold temps and a few inches of snow. However, we made the most of it by getting out and running some errands and then spending some quality time on the couch watching breaking bad (we are just now in season 2 and loving it) and making sausage and shrimp gumbo

What did you do this weekend? Were you tuned into the super bowl? Did you like the half time show as much as I did?

Super Bowl Sunday

February 2, 2014
Today we are sporting the brightest orange we own with pride.
We will eat all the best game-day foods.
We will cheer and scream for our boys on the field.
We will root for the orange and blue.
We are the 12th man.
Today is the super bowl.
We are #readytoride and #unitedinorange.

Weekend Update

January 20, 2014
Happy monday everyone. I have to start this post (and weekend recap) by saying what a proud denver broncos fan I am today. We are going to the super bowl after winning the afc west championship yesterday against the patriots! It was an awesome day... tailgating in the sunshine with our friends matt + lindy, cheering the broncos on to a victory and all in 60 degree weather!

The rest of the weekend had (nearly) equal highlights sprinkled throughout it. Friday night was spent with gina at the central after enjoying a nice walk around lower-downtown with rocco during sunset. Saturday I got to see the new lone survivor movie which was seriously such a well-portrayed war film on top of have a nice fish dinner at bone fish grill. Oh, and a tasty breakfast was had with ryan at denver biscuit company. I don't know if I will ever get sick of our lazy weekend routines of lingering over a delicious breakfast just my husband and I. Seriously... its is one of my most favorite things.

Weekend Update

January 13, 2014
Wow... what an awesome weekend to be in denver and/or to be a denver broncos fan. We killed it against the chargers and will be heading to the afc championship next weekend to go up against the patriots. Seriously, so proud to be #unitedinorange!

On another note, my week-long detox is over and ryan and I celebrated our completion over sushi at izakaya den. I am so proud of us and know that our healthy eating patterns will only continue from here. On saturday ryan and I were super productive... car washes, working out, cleaning the house and running errands. It felt so good to get a few little projects out of the way early on because I felt less guilty relaxing the rest of the weekend.

Speaking of, the rest of the weekend, it was a bit indulgent (especially if you compare to the week prior of cleansing)... dinner at park burger, a night out at the dive inn playing ping pong and drinking beers followed by tailgating for the broncos on sunday morning. Luckily I took it easy the rest of the day while watching the golden globes. Tina fey and amy poehler did a hysterical job hosting and of course the fashion was killer.

I hope everyone had a great weekend too. Come back here all week for a few great food posts and some fun articles.

Weekend Update

November 18, 2013
Oh such a fun fall weekend here in denver. The unseasonably warm temperatures allowed for playing catch with rocco in the park, some relaxing on our patio and a great broncos tailgate last night. Oh, and I must mention the broncos beat the undefeated chiefs with a hell of a game last night. #awesome

A couple other highlights from the weekend... I picked up fresh baked croissants for breakfast from trompeau bakery on saturday morning, had a great family dinner with ryan's extended family the same evening, rented the heat on-demand during some down time and then went to our favorite, jelly cafe for brunch on sunday morning.

Weekend Update

October 28, 2013
My weekend consisted of lots of coffee, fall weather and football; all of which made for great weekend looking back now. I feel like since ryan surprised me with a nespresso maker for my birthday, we have been consuming like crazy. Then, you add in brunch at beatrice and woodsley with a pot of their delicious french press and it seems like the majority of photos on my iphone this weekend had a cup-o-joe in them.

The fall weather is just so amazing right now. I feel like everywhere I look there are vibrant leaves on every tree or sidewalk which makes walks with rocco, yard work and driving around town that much more beautiful. Oh, and the broncos vs redskins game was actually hot... we were sweating away as we cheered the team to yet another home-game victory. I cannot complain though because it was so much fun and I would rather be watching the game in seasonally warm versus seasonally cool weather.

Weekend Update

October 7, 2013
Fall weekends are the best in my book. They are filled with crisp weather, beautiful shades of orange, football sundays and time spent with those you love most.

Highlights of the weekend included a trip to the museum of contemporary art for some culture and glasses of joel gott sauvignon blanc on the amazing rooftop patio. We then ventured over to the denver oktoberfest for some stein hosting, beer drinking and people watching. Our friends phil and sara met up for a bit too and cheered ryan on in the competition.

Sunday was also a perfect fall day as ryan, rocco and I ventured up to kenosha pass to see the aspens changing and do a little hiking. Rocco did amazing (just like when we went camping back in july) and the leaves were of course stunning. Every shade of orange, gold, amber, rust and saffron went on for miles dancing in the sunlight. I had never gone to see the aspens change before and it was even more magical than I had hoped.

Oh, and did you hear... the broncos won again yesterday against the cowboys putting them at 5-0. The game was a nail-biter to the end and it was fun to watch it in such great company.

Hope everyone took advantage of their fall weekend too.

Weekend Update

September 30, 2013
Welcome back from your weekend. I had some serious goals set for myself this past weekend (I wrote about them here) and guess what... I got a few of them completed and I could not be happier.

Friday morning started with ryan and I having coffee at steam before heading off to work. I wish every work day began with a mandatory coffee date at the best place in town. When I got home from work I pulled out all of my halloween decorations and got busy making my home as festive as possible. I have a few things left to put out on the porch but otherwise I am really happy with the end result.

The best part of my saturday was having lunch with my grandma and family. We went to a mexican restaurant in her area and then helped (or should I say, attempted to help) my grandma install a new phone in her house. Afterward, I had a huge surge of energy to tackle my very disorganized linen closet so I started working on that. I cannot wait to share the final product because it really is a 180 transformation.

Sunday the broncos took on the eagles which meant I went to work to host my company's tailgate party. My family came down for the fun, along with 500 clients, and the weather could not have been better for tailgating; high 70s and a slight breeze. Oh how I love fall weather. I was also able to get in some great walks with rocco in the warm weather so I feel like I am really taking advantage of the season already.

Tonight I am picking up the final supplies I need for tomorrow's diy book club. I will share more on this soon too.

Weekend Update

September 16, 2013
Last friday I said I was going to have the laziest weekend possible and guess what, I was pretty accurate with me prediction. On friday I had an awesome street taco lunch at comida with my dad and sister followed by a lazy night with ryan. We took rocco for a walk  listened to the rain. Saturday was pretty low-key too, a couple quick errands and then a nice evening in.

Gina, ryan and I popped a couple bottles of wine, enjoyed ina garten's 1770 meatloaf and talked around the dining room table for hours. It was one of those nights where you felt like the food, atmosphere and company were giving you a huge hug all night long. Not to mention, it was one of the first nights I have used the oven in months.

As the rain continued to fall on sunday, ryan and I slowly made it out of the house for some coffee and then a trip to the gym. With it being broncos sunday, ryan, rocco and I (outfitted in our broncos gear) made our way to my parents house to watch the game. Tasty game-day snacks and lounging on the couch made for a nice sunday afternoon. Oh, and the broncos beat the giants, hooray!

With all the crazy weather in colorado right now and the flooding effecting so many homes/families, a lot of my down time was also spent watching the news. My heart goes out to all affected by the flooding in colorado.
