30x30 Remix // Wrap Up

My 30x30 remix: summer edition came to an end on september 4th and while I really enjoyed the whole process, I am quite happy it is over. I feel like the challenge pushed me to come up with different outfits  but I also did not wander too far away from my 'simple and classic' comfort zone. 

Looking back on the past month, the outfits I liked best were days 4, 9, 15, 16 and 28. I am hoping to continue the efforts to mix things up and challenge myself when getting dressed each morning; however, do not plan on me becoming a fashion blogger overnight. I moonlight and that is about it. Thanks for all the support over the past month and for putting up with way too many awkward photos of myself. 

30x30 Remix // Day 29

Blazers are one of those items in your closet that really wear well regardless of the season. I will admit though, with temperatures in the high 90's yesterday, this jacket did not make it past mid-morning. However, a simple white tee and jeans is about as classic as it gets so it worked out well. I paired everything with a great pair of black sandals and this necklace that I got for a steal at nordstrom rack last fall. Simple and classic, my kind of style no matter what the season is.

30x30 Remix // Day 28

Denim on denim is always one of those looks that I think other people can pull off so well. I feel like women always look so edgy yet chic when they have a great chambray shirt paired with jeans that are just dark enough it brings the whole look together. This is my attempt to be one of those cool girls. I paired my chambray shirt with skinny jeans and (shocker) gold accessories. I am not sure if I am pulling it off but I still rocked it as if I was.

30x30 Remix // Day 27

I am a day late on posting this one and in twenty seven days, I would say that is not too bad. In my mind, labor day weekend is always synonymous with family and friends. This year will be no different but there is just a bit of a different tone in the air. Hoping everyone is keeping things simple this weekend, just like my gingham button up and jean shorts. Casual pieces that fit perfectly into a weekend filled with those you care about most.

30x30 Remix // Day 26

Summer nights. There are few better things than evenings where the sunset lights up the entire sky in every shade of blue, purple and pink, where the temperatures float in the 70s until midnight and the energy around you keeps you up way past your typical bed time. Oh summer nights, thank you for giving me so many amazing memories. Last night the sky was setting so beautifully and it really made the night feel extra special. Its nights like these that make me wish the summer could last more than just a few months.

30x30 Remix // Day 25

I am in the home stretch of my summer remix and I cannot believe (but also a bit thankful) it is almost over. I am mostly looking forward to not having to see/post awkward pictures of myself on the daily. Yesterday my sister and I took our pups for a walk in her neighborhood and we found this beautiful garden. I was wearing a floral skirt which made me think these vibrant colored flowers could be the perfect backdrop for today's post. Improptu 30x30 remix photo shoot... yep, it happened.

30x30 Remix // Day 24

This skirt might be the most difficult piece I own to photograph. I feel like it reads so much better in person versus in pictures because of its lineal shape. Seriously, if you had to see how many shots it took to get a couple photos that don't look like a big black pole with my body coming out of it, you would be falling over laughing. Luckily, it is about the most cozy item in my closet so I guess that outweighs its non-photogenic nature. I paired it with a simple white tee and then tons of colorful accessories.

Want to know a secret? I am pretty sure I have worn this skirt every tuesday since I started this challenge. What can I say, it is a staple piece that goes with a lot of my 30x30 remix pieces and I have a weekly 8:30am meeting that I constantly struggle to get to on time. So, as I am rushing around the house trying to get out the door, the easiest clothing choice is this skirt paired with nearly any top. You can't blame me, you would probably do the same.

Black and white. The most classic, easy and always in style color combination. I feel like the majority of my closet is made up of these colors and I couldn't be more content with that. No matter if you add a pop of color or keeps things monochromatic, there are endless options with black and white. Today I added in some gold accessories and mixed casual pieces with structure and sparkle to make things a bit more interesting. I just love how they play together and make things feel fun but professional all at the same time.

I feel like stripes can often times look a bit nautical; I guess that is their classic nature. I am sure if I had a pair of sperry's on, an accessory with an anchor and maybe a boat behind me I would be crossing a line but today I feel pretty good that I only have a small nod towards nautical. I must say though, I am a huge lover of stripes; any color combo, cut or season, I gravitate to them. Maybe I was a sailor in my past life or something. Ha!

30x30 Remix // Day 20

I think ever since I started blogging, I look at the world around me with a different mindset. An event around town is a blog post in the making, a great new restaurant is a review I cannot wait to share and an interesting wall or building is then the perfect backdrop for a photo shoot. Believe it or not but this crazy bright yellow wall with a 3-d tree is painted on the side of a major grocery store in denver. I have driven past it a million times but never thought much about it until I was in the midst of this 30x30 remix. Luckily not a lot of grocery shoppers were sneaking peeks while I was getting my picture taken.

30x30 Remix // Day 19

I cannot believe I am more than half way through my summer edition of my 30x30 remix. I feel like the pieces I have chosen have (for the most part) been really easy to mix and match. I guess the biggest challenge I have faced were a couple extremely hot couple saturdays and sundays. Luckily casual friday allowed me to layer on a cardigan and not roast away.

A couple years ago before h&m had any locations in colorado, it was a really big deal when you traveled to a city where h&m did have stores. I remember a trip to san diego a couple years back when I got so excited to do a little retail therapy and bring back clothing that I knew no one would be wearing on the streets of denver. One of my purchases was this sheer peter pan-collared top. Denver now has a couple h&m's across town and I shop their frequently but I am still nostalgic of the pieces I bought from other cities across the globe.

My (subconscious) inspiration for this outfit came from the nail lacquers I put on a couple days ago. I grabbed the chic 'blue freeze' navy lacquer from maybelline for my toes and essie's 'tart deco' coral for my hands and I love the color combination. Only after I got dressed this morning, did I realize my outfit was a total play on the navy and coral on my fingers and toes. Funny how little things like that work out in my world... I only hope I am not the only one out there that realizes little things like this.

Back in june all of you sounded off on the perfect white dress to wear to an upcoming work event. I chose this lace dress and wrote about it here. I thought this would be the perfect light and airy dress to add into my 30x30 remix because it screams summer. To mix things up a bit, I paired it with black accessories with mixed metals.

This outfit came together much easier than most days where I stand in front of my closet with a bewildered look on my face. I love these kind of days as they are much more infrequent than I would prefer but oh how glorious they are when they do come around. A girlfriend of mine actually gave me this cardigan after she cleaned out her closet; lucky for me as I love the juxtaposition of the neutral color and unexpected details.

There is something to be said about ultra thin cotton that feel like its been washed 100 times before you ever get it out of the store. The best ultra thin shirts, tees and tanks are the ones that barely graze the skin to keep the heat at bay and bring style to warm summer months. They feel effortless and are perfect for lazy sundays after you have been out in the sun for hours. I paired my ultra thin striped tank with classic jean shorts and could not have been more content in such an understated look. If you were in denver yesterday when it was pushing 95, you would agree this was the best clothing option available.

30x30 Remix // Day 13

Nothing beats a casual saturday where the highlights truly are sleeping in, a late morning brunch and then having a quiet night in. I pulled this outfit together at the last minute to head to the store (so yes, I did spend the majority of my day in non-30x30 remix attire) but its my challenge and at least I participated on some level. I bought this skirt a few years ago when lauren conrad launched her clothing line at kohl's yet, I honestly think I have only worn it a handful of times. I feel like it is one of those pieces that just seem like such a great idea until you put it on. I am hoping this challenge will help me find some love for this skirt as I want to wear/like it much more than I do.
