Latest Beauty Buys

June 18, 2015
It feels like summer is only moments away and there is no better time for us ladies, to up our beauty game before the hot temps leave us looking like pools of melted makeup and frizzy hair. Oh wait, is that just me? I have been loving the results of my latest beauty buys and would recommend them to you as well.

A summer tan is complimented perfectly by opi's funny bunny nail lacquer. The color is a milky white that is not too harsh or shimmery. I am pretty obsessed with this color and rock it on both my fingers and toes.

Aveda's sun care hair + body cleanser is in weekly rotation in my shower. This color-safe formula removes chlorine, salt and product buildup while also maintaining your hair's moisture. It doesn't hurt that it smells like citrus either. I love that I can use this product once a week to get all the product off my scalp or to clean my hair after a dip in the pool.

My pregnancy belly is growing by the day but I have yet to see a single stretch mark. It could be genetics or that I slather myself in plamers cocoa butter every morning and evening. Knock on wood that whatever is working in my favor, keeps up for the next 3 months.

I fill in my brows on the daily but was noticing that their shape would not stay all day. Not any more, anastasia brow gel is a clear gel that sets, defines and hold brows in place all day. There is chamomile in the formula that also conditions my browns while leaving me with a natural look.

There are dozens of self tanners on the market but l'oreal's sublime bronze towelettes are my personal fav. The easy-to-use towels have vitamin e and alpha hydroxy acid to smooth and soften skin and they swipe right on, nearly error-proof. After a few hours, you will have a natural glow, streak free.

I have been using seche vite dry fast top coat for a couple of years but had to include because it is that good. This top coat is the best thing ever. My nails look like I had a shellac mani but without the cost due to the lacquer's ability to penetrate to the nail bed, creating a bond that will keep away chips and peeling for days.

Currently Obsessed // Ankle Strap Wedges

May 28, 2015
Ever since I was a kid, I have had scrawny little legs. It was an awesome trait for kids to poke fun of growing up but as an adult, I have come to accept that my lean extremities are not going anywhere (no matter how hard I try to bulk them up at the gym). This proves to be a fashion challenge during boot season but come warmer weather, there are some advantages, mainly I can wear strapy sandals without any issue of visually chopping my legs off or making myself look short or squaty.

This spring I have been obsessing over ankle strap shoes and with my growing baby belly, wedges are my lifelines for comfort throughout the day. I recently splurged and bought a pair of banana republic army green suede wedges and I cannot take them off. Which, got me surfing the interwebs for more ankle strap wedge options. Luckily, there are so many styles out there, nearly any body type can now rock a pair of these shoes and look fabulous doing so.

My obsession can now be yours, please enjoy.

Currently Obsessed // Tassels

March 18, 2015
While planning for our spring break vacation, I became a bit obsessed with all things adorned with a tassel. I love the low-key beachy vibe they bring to an outfit and tassels are everywhere this spring. They are gorgeous thrown on with a maxi dress for a casual day of sightseeing and look great stacked on your wrist to wear with a bikini for a day at the pool. Having a nice dinner out on the town... grab a flowy top, some dressy shorts and a pair of tassel earrings and you are instantly pulled together without looking over the top.

Here are a few of my favorite tasseled items right now. I also found some awesome shops on etsy that I have already made a couple purchases from.

Spring Break // Vacation Essentials

March 5, 2015
I am over the snow, freezing temperatures and all that comes with the winter months... yes even cozy sweaters, cute boots and over-sized scarves are not cutting it for me anymore. I need sun, sand between my toes and a good book to waste away my afternoons reading.

Spring break is calling my name and luckily for me, ryan and I booked a vacation a couple months ago that is nearly here. I can already envision myself lounging in a beach chair... losing all scope of the real world with the rhythmic sound of the waves crashing onto the beach. I recently picked up these sunnies and a new swimsuit for our trip, now all I need to do is restock my supply of sunscreen and set up a couple playlists for my ipod.

Here are a few of my spring break essentials which will most definitely come in handy very, very soon!

Latest Beauty Buys

February 25, 2015
I am excited to share today's post as I have become obsessed with some new beauty products that I think you might like too. Back in august I shared my last beauty post but today's features products that have seriously changed my routine for the better.

First up... the beauty blender. This makeup sponge is unlike anything I have ever used to apply foundation, tinted moisturizer, concealer, blush or bronzer. You get flawless coverage that looks like a professional applied it. I have seen beauty blenders on the market for a couple of years but after watching kandee johnson's youtube tutorial, I decided to buy one. I have not looked back since.

Image skin care is a leading professional skin-care line. Their balancing facial cleanser is a 3-in-1... exfoliate, makeup remover and gel cleanser that balances the pH in my skin while removing impurities. It smells intoxicating and leaves my skin hydrated and clean.

I found thayers toner through emily at cupcakes and cashmere and have been loving the results. This toner removes everything from makeup to dirt while leaving my skin moisturized and soft. The best part, there is no burning sensation when applying because thayers is alcohol-free.

Finally my eyebrows thank me for looking filled in after I apply my anastasia eyebrow pencil. The pencil comes in a variety of shades and can be sharpened to created ultra-thin definition without looking drawn-on. I also love that this brow pencil comes with a built-in blending brush.

I would love to hear about the beauty products you swear by. Feel free to share them in the comments section below!

Wardrobe Essentials

January 28, 2015
I was going through my closet the other day and realized quite a few things...

1. I am a sucker for neutrals
2. I don't wander far from the cuts and styles that I know flatter my shape
3. I like classic pieces that I can wear for years
4. Anything that is 'of the moment' or 'seasonal' typically comes from a big-box retailers where prices are ultra low

The more I looked through my closet, I found that I am a collector of essentials; pieces that work together to build an outfit. My clothes lend to layering and really come together with the help of accessories. So, you can assume there are a lot of neutral colors, approachable fabrics and a bit of simplicity.

I decided to put together a collection of wardrobe essentials... these are all items that I think are the foundation for a woman's closet. Each item can be worn in several ways and are either currently in my closet or I have a version very similar.

Tops: Everyone needs a great white tee, tanks to layer, simple button ups and a couple special, slightly-dressy shirts to match with a variety of bottoms. Finally, when the weather gets chilly, cozy sweaters will keep you staying warm.

(left to right:  tee  /  halter tank  /  tank  /  blouse  /  plaid button-up  /  chambray  /  striped shirt  /  chiffon blouse  /  cardigan  /  thin sweater  /  chunky sweater)

Jackets/Dresses/Bottoms: Vests are practical and add a sporty element to any outfit. A classic leather jacket will never go out of style along with a military-inspired piece; they both add a bit of edge which I love. As for skirts, pencil-cuts are universally flattering and can work with a variety of tops. Every girl should have a lbd, along with a great-fitting pair of black + white pants along with a go-to pair of denim.

(left to right:  vest  /  leather jacket  /  military jacket  /  pencil skirt  /  little black dress  /  pencil skirt  /  black pant  /  white pant  /  denim)

Bags + Shoes:  Neutrals rule in this category. A simple black cross body bag and a large tan tote will take you from work to the weekend easily. I love scarves and will buy cheap colorful ones seasonally but tend to reach for a cozy neutral option more often then not. As for shoes, I get the most wear out of my neutral flats, classic patent pumps, riding boots and a chunky-heeled wedge.

(left to right: cross body bag  /  scarf  /  tote  /  ballet flat  /  patent leather pump  /  riding boot  /  bootie  /  ballet flat)

What are your wardrobe essentials? Leave a comment letting me know what workhorse in your closet should be an addition to mine.

Weekend Update

January 19, 2015
If you saw my post on friday, I said I was going to try to stay home as much as possible this weekend. I can proudly say this was an accurate statement... I left the house minimally and that made me really happy. Now, I by no means had an uneventful weekend; somehow I found a way to fill up the days with things to do.

Ryan and I had a much-needed relaxing night at home on friday. We watched boyhood and played with rocco a lot. Saturday we got our new dining room table delivered... finally! It is honestly my new favorite piece of furniture and it sets the perfect tone for the dining room and conjoining living room. We decided to get out of the house saturday night to see american sniper which was amazing and then had burgers + fries at cherry cricket

Sunday was our laziest day of all; I made us my version of sausage egg mcmuffins, ryan did a little work and my parents came by for football and deep dish pizza in the afternoon. I ended up taking a nap after my parents headed home and then spent the rest of the evening watching dvr and playing with rocco.

Like I said, a lazy-ish weekend at home.

I am in the middle of my attempting to make homemade pretzels right now and the dough is ready to be rolled out and twisted up so I gotta go. See you back here this week!

Latest Obsession // Camel Coat

January 8, 2015
Baby it's cold outside! Winter is here and will be sticking around for the months ahead... well at least in denver that is. When the temperatures get low, it is essential to layer a warm coat over any outfit before heading out into the elements. I am currently obsessing over camel coats. Their rich colors, clean lines and classic feel make them the perfect addition to any wardrobe.

Round Up // Holiday Gift Guide

December 5, 2014
If you are an avid blog-reader than you have probably seen your fair-share of holiday gift guides over the past couple of weeks. So... I might not be super original in content today but I can promise you, all the items I have included in today's post are guaranteed-by-me to be awesome and super thoughtful. Everything is under $100 and available to purchase online, or in store.

Tis the season lovely readers, lets get shopping!

1. rachel ray stacking salt box - if you love to cook than a beautiful salt box is the perfect addition to a chef's kitchen.

2. kai pure komachi 6-piece knife set - don't let the kiddy-colors fool you; these knives are razor sharp and the colors are to prevent cross-contamination.

3. b.p. infinity scarf - nordstrom's juniors department is killing it with scarves this season. This b+w version is chic but edgy and would be a winter staple for any girl's closet.

4. gold stained mug - I feel like coffee would just taste better in a mug that has a gold stained lipstick print on the rim. This mug is cheeky and beautiful.

5. sailor marble boards - this white marble and sheesham wood board would be the perfect surface for a cheese plate, to prep items in the kitchen or to adorn a side table or counter.

6. stendig wall calendar - a classically designed calendar for the office or home. This is a great unisex gift that would fit into many decor styles.

7. krista salmon x-ring - a modern but feminine ring to wear layered or as a statement piece. Covered in swarovkski crystals, there is just enough bling without it feeling gaudy.

8. j.crew quilted down vest - this vest is made for layering and it's lightweight material makes it not feel bulky. Oh and the gold hardware is about the best thing ever.

9. gentle reminders pencils - colorful pencils with fun phrases... yes please.

10. campfire candle - the smell of a campfire is iconic and makes me think of great memories. This candle will make you urn for s'mores and sleeping under the stars.

11. craft beer club - your brother, buddy or boyfriend will love the monthly delivery in their mail. A beer club is a great gift for beer enthusiasts and will help them find a new brew to love.

12. c. wonder gold chevron glassware - appropriate for everyday use but special enough to serve cocktails in at a party; I love their sophisticated feel.

13. metallic playing cards - game night just got taken to the next level. I feel like playing cards always get thrown in a drawer, these cards would look stunning on a coffee table to show off.

14. metallic shearling lodge moccasins - keeping your tootsies warm when you are lounging around the house just got a bit more stylish. These moccasins have rubber soles too in case you have to let your pooch out in the middle of the night.

15. sequin tassle clutch - every girl needs a bag to take out for a nice dinner, wedding or girls night and this one is universal enough to go with any outfit.

16. numi 2-ring candle holder - these glass candle holders are stunning in person. They are crazy affordable too so you can fill your dining table with tons of moody light.

17. west elm fair isle cheese board - I love the rustic and homey feel of this board. It would look great mixed with holiday decor but practical enough to have on display year round.

18. soft leather dog collar - every dog owner would love a little lux for their four-legged-friend. This italian leather dog collar is sturdy but soft, comes in a ton of colors and has nickel-plated hardware.

19. bella j manicure set - keep those fingers and toes looking good no matter where your day takes you with this nail set. The best part... a fun surprise is tucked inside every kit.

20. c. wonder monogram jewelry box - a personalized item is always a hit and this gorgeous high-gloss box with a hand-cut, inlaid gold accent is just waiting to adorn a nightstand or dresser.

Current Obsession // Tartan Throws

November 19, 2014
It is fair to say, winter is settling in across the country; the temperatures are low and when you take into account daylight savings, the sun sets before most even leave work at night. There is very little that I want to do after a long workday besides cuddling up on the couch with a cozy blanket and a glass of wine or hot tea.

A great throw is the perfect way to stay warm and add some texture and coziness to any room. There are countless options available on the market currently but I keep gravitating towards all things tartan. I love their bold patterns and they compliment the season perfectly. Stay warm lovely readers!

Falling

September 13, 2014
Summer is still technically happening... until the 23rd of this month but if you live in denver than you know that fall is truly, in full effect. The leaves are starting to turn, the air is crisp and I am reaching for pieces in my closet to layer together. I even busted out boots twice already this week.

Fall is my favorite time of year so in the spirit of the season that is upon us in every way but the date, here is a roundup of my favorite seasonal items.

Quote of the Day

Oh happy fry is an online shop full of beautiful pieces. They specialize in toys and clothes for babies but this blanket might be the sweetest thing I've ever seen. And, after a weekend away from my extremely busy husband who did so much while I was gone, I cannot think of a better quote to share. Ryan, thank you for balancing it all so effortlessly and for loving me unconditionally.

Hut, Hut... Hike

September 7, 2014
Tonight kicks off the regular season for my home team, the denver broncos. The streets will be flooded in orange, navy and white as we cheer on our boys who will be taking on the colts for #sundaynightfootball. I am of course pumped for another season of tailgating, followed by watching all the games with family + friends. And, to look the part, here is a roundup of my favorite broncos gear for the season.

(clockwise from top left:  tee  /  nail lacquer  /  scarf (no longer available)  /  hair ties  /  jacket  /  convertible mittens  /  sunglasses  /  beanie  /  boots)

Also, if you have not checked out her fantasy football, you are missing out. It's an awesome weekly pod-cast hosted by some of the most well-versed and football-crazed fans I know, who just happen to be women. These ladies sure do know their shit when it comes to draft picks for fantasy football, weekly stats, teams, players, coaches... I could go on. Her fantasy football was just picked up by espnw (yep, as in ESPN!!!) so if you call yourself a football fan, you better check them out.

Let's go broncos!

Latest Beauty Buys

August 28, 2014
I am pretty regimented in my beauty routine. Rarely do I veer from the products I love and that have a proven track-record in my book. Outside of swapping out my nail lacquers every season, I am a creature of habit. However, a few new-to-me products have made their way into my makeup bag and bathroom shelves; proving that change is a good thing.

(clockwise from top left:  tinted lip balm  /  eye cream  /  shampoo  /  eye shadow palette  /  brushes  /  lotion)

I would highly recommend you picking any and all of these products, I am thinking they will be sticking around in my world.

Happy 4th

July 4, 2014
This weekend we will be celebrating our independence with family + friends, most likely on a patio with some delicious bbq. The weather in denver is of course, going to be hot so I thought I would put together an inspiration board for a forth of july party, complete with water balloons to give some relief to the heat. In my mind, this holiday is all about yummy food, fireworks and americana details.

Here is to a fabulous weekend... I hope you celebrate it with endless fun!

See you back here on monday.
